The value of time

As you become older you realise what truly matters in life.

It’s time.

The only thing that you can’t buy. Once it’s gone, you can’t bring it back. What you’ve missed to do with your life, you’ve missed for good. So how rich you are is not determined by the balance in your bank account, but by the time that you have available to devote to things that matter. That is what makes you really free.

Most people do not realise this truth. They keep chasing lesser things in life – formal education, career, social status, material wealth, and, without even becoming aware of it, entangle and enslave themselves hopelessly. They buy more than they can afford, and spend a lifetime paying off mortgages, hoping that “better times” and “success” will come if they work hard enough.

But no. A time for the better times is NOW. Every day of your life should be lived as if it was your last one, as if no future existed. That is the only formula to be content with your life. If you do not postpone your desires for “later”, if you take the most out of every day, you have nothing to regret. You’ve lived your life to the fullest, even if it ends the next moment.

Understand the value of TIME, and you’ll find happiness.
